Wedding party on path

The path continues along Greenough Boulevard. It fronts directly on parking bays where cars overhang the path. The path was built with Federal transportation money. The great seriousness with which the path's builders, and the public, take the path as a bicycling transportation facility is evident in this photo. The wedding party here has assembled to have its photo taken. Need I make the point: the path is primarily a pedestrian facility, and bicyclists who want to ride at their normal speed, avoiding obstructions, ride on the road. But the parallel section of Charles River Road is narrowed and traffic-calmed, leaving no room for motorists to overtake bicyclists without merging into the oncoming lane. Photo taken in 1982, but nothing substantial has changed here.
